The image Superman14.jpg is being linked here; though the picture is originally copyright, I (TreveX^talk 00:14, 22 September 2005 (UTC)) feel it is covered by fair use because:

The image is important to the article, depicting an icon of popular culture, Superman, in the context of a critical discussion into Superman literature. Specifically, Superman as a myth of a static good-and-evil world view being an example of a combination of semiotic and political analysis in popular culture studies. The image of the comic book cover also serves to illustrate that even components of "low culture" are worthy of scholarly attention and discussion under the rubric of popular culture studies. This is a relatively recent development (Mukerji & Schudson 1991).
This is a low-resolution image and as such will not affect the commercial value of this work in any significant way.
This image does not limit the copyright owners' rights to distribute the original image in any way.
On Wikipedia, the image is used for non-profit and informational purposes only.
