Lightning over Denver, Colorado, USA

A large bolt of lightning strikes west of downtown Denver, Colorado, with the Qwest Tower (center) in plain view. Denver, known as the "Mile-High City" because its official elevation is one mile (1.6 km), is the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Colorado. In the spring and summer, Denver is subject to monsoon conditions with frequent thunderstorms.

[edit] Isotope project

Hey, I noticed you're doing work on the isotope section of the elements table. I was wondering if you were aware of the project I started, Wikipedia:WikiProject Isotopes. Would you be interested in joining the project and helping out? I plan on really getting started after this week (being my finals week). I know it's daunting the thought of making entries on 3100 isotopes, but I think if we can get multiple people working on this it shouldn't be too bad. You're input would be great. — oo64eva (Alex) (U | T | C) @ 21:20, May 4, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] BC/AD versus BCE/CE

Given you've expressed an opinion, you might want to vote as well at Talk:Jesus#Reversions & Consensus on BCE/AD. Jayjg (talk) 18:45, 10 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Helium

I just reverted your edit! You had removed information about unstable helium isotopes. Was there a good reason for this? Perhaps you could discuss it on the Talk page. Zeimusu | (Talk page) 07:20, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Environmental Chemistry

Yeah, I was mulling that over. I'll see if I'm still irritated by it in a couple of days time, and if so I'll consider it. ;-)

[edit] Existence of God merger

I'm attempting to develop a consensus in favor of merging the Arguments against the existence of God and the Arguments for the existence of God articles. A beta version of the resulting article is available at Existence of God. To date, there seems to be consensus in favor of this merger on the "for" talk page, I'm now trying to get a consensus together on the "against" talk page. Please visit Talk:Arguments against the existence of God to weigh in. I'm copy-and-pasting this message to everybody who has contributed to that talk page. crazyeddie 05:47, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] List of articles about Scientology

Hi Sunborn, I saw your suggestion regarding List of articles about Scientology but noticed you had not started the vote process, so I went ahead and did it for you. Please vote on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/List of articles about Scientology. --AI 6 July 2005 23:32 (UTC)

[edit] could use your help

Please take a look at the Talmidaism page which is now marked for deletion by Jayjg. Now that the disputed merge to the Nazarene page has been removed, Jayjg is attempting to delete the article entirely. He is using his position as an administrator to accomplish what he could not do as an editor. Please help prevent a hi tech lynching. --Ovadyah 15:22, 13 July 2005 (UTC)

At one time you recommended a consolidation of the Talmidaism article into the Ebionite page. It might be a good time to bring up that solution on the VfD that Jayjg set up if you still feel that way. There seems to be a consensus building toward that solution rather than outright deletion. --Ovadyah 20:28, 17 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] 'These are both mahayana views'

The Nikaya doctrine of nirvana-without-remainder means that there is no difference (after death) between a sravaka-buddha and a samyaksam-buddha, and most significantly, there is no ability for any type of buddha to benefit others after death. Therefore, as we are currently in the world of Shakyamuni, the only option for students of Shakyamuni is to achieve sravaka-buddhahood, or if one is to be a Bodhisattva, (like Maitreya), to postpone nirvana until one has manifested as a samyaksam-buddha.

Mahayana buddhism has a distinct doctrine (see eg. Lotus sutra) of nirvana-without-remainder, and so therefore there is a distinction between the sravaka-buddhas who are at peace, therefore not initially engaged in benefitting others (after death), and the samyaksam-buddhas who are actively engaged in benefitting others for all time. For the Mahayana it makes no sense to talk about postponing Nirvana, because they do not assert the same doctrine of nirvana-without-remainder as the Nikaya schools. [edit] Featured article for December 25th

I noticed you have listed yourself in Category:Invisible Pink Unicorn Wikipedians. That said, you will probably be interested in my suggested featured article for December 25th: Omnipotence paradox. The other suggestion being supported by others for that date is Christmas, although Raul654 has historically been against featuring articles on the same day as their anniversary/holiday. — BRIAN0918 • 2005-11-28 08:30

[edit] re:Category:Wikipedians by D&D Alignment

I noticed you are categorized as a Wikipedian by alignment. If you are in to userboxes, there are now infoboxes available using a standard template. See the alignment category page for details. Engineering Wiki is a wiki entirely dedicated to collecting information about Engineering. The Engineering Wiki is in early development stages at the moment. We invite you to help devlope this wiki.

[edit] Spelling (and link)

Thanks for fixing the link to Mach number. I would suggest these changes to your user page:

The intellegent 25% minority has -> The intelligent 25% minority has

in one vandalism occurance -> in one vandalism occurence

No, I am open to existence -> No, I am open to existance

and on your talk page just above: We invite you to help devlope this wiki. -> We invite you to help develop this wiki.

Occurrence, not occurence. Existence, not existance (ie. the original spelling was correct).
It would be most helpful if one checks one's own spelling before suggesting spelling fixes.

[edit] Wikimedia Canada

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 17:11, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Why do we have so few engineers as Wikipedians?

I am trying to understand why there are so few Wikipedians who are graduate engineers. Once I get a grasp on that, perhaps I may be able to formulate some ideas on how to attract more experienced engineers to become Wikipedians. It would be very helpful if you would respond to these a few questions:

  • Are you a university graduate engineer?
  • Please indicate in which of these engineering disciplines you obtained your degree:
    1. Aeronautical or aerospace engineering
    2. Bioengineer or biological engineering
    3. Chemical engineering
    4. Civil engineering
    5. Electrical engineering
    6. Environmental engineering
    7. Mechanical engineering
    8. Petroleum engineering
    9. Other
  • In what year did you obtain your degree?
  • What attracted you to participate in Wikipedia?

Please respond on my User talk:mbeychok page. Or you may respond to me via Wikipedia's email which I have enabled on my User:mbeychok page.

If you would rather not respond at all, that's fine also. Regards, - mbeychok 04:28, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category sorting

I was thinking of it as University of Ontario Institute of Technology. That's why I thought it should sort under O in the categories Category:Nursing schools in Canada and Category:Universities in Ontario. --Usgnus 16:01, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

You'll notice that Waterloo, Western and Windsor are currently under W in Category:Universities in Ontario. But since UOIT is what the Uni is known as, I've used that as the sort key now. --Usgnus 20:21, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proposal on Notability

Because you're a member of the Association of Inclusionist Wikipedians, I'm notifying you that the inclusionist proposa Wikipedia:Non-notabilityl is in progress to define the role of notability in articles. Please help us make this successful! Also note the proposal Wikipedia:Importance is a deletionist proposla that seeks to officially introduce notabiltiy for the first time. Make sure this is defeated! --Ephilei 22:56, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed Georgia Move

As a past participant in the discussion on how to handle the Georgia pages, I thought you might be interested to know that there's a new attempt to reach consensus on the matter being addressed at Talk:Georgia (country)#Requested_Move_-_July_2006. Please come by and share your thoughts to help form a consensus. --Vengeful Cynic 03:45, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
