Suntan was the code-name of an early prototype to the SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft by the Lockheed Skunk Works. The aircraft was in development during the 1950's, it was to be powered by LH2. An LH2 powered aircraft was considered too dangerous and expensive to maintain and the project was canceled, the research was redirected to more conventional fuels and resulted in the SR-71.
