"Sunshine" was the pilot episode of the children's series TUGS. The title referred to the focus character of the episode.

[edit] Brief Synopsis

Captain Star charters a new switcher called Sunshine to help Ten Cents with the extra work, the other Star Tugs battle to win the ocean liner contract by escorting The Duchess successfully into port. Unknown to them, Zorran and the rest of Captain Zero's Z-Stacks are plotting to sabotage the operation.

  • First appearances of all the Star Tugs, Z-Stacks, Izzy Gomez, Lillie Lightship, The Duchess, and Sally Seaplane
  • This episode features Sally Seaplane's only ever major speaking appearance
  • The only appearance of the Duchess throughout the whole series (although she appears in Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends).
  • Only episode to introduce a new Star tug.
  • The Coast Guard and Fire Tug have minor non-speaking roles
  • The Train that appeared had the same whistle sound as Puffa. Because of the sound, this may also be Puffa's first appearence.
