Sunrise Senior Living, Inc. (NYSE: SRZ) is a retirement home company based in northern Virginia. There are over 420 Sunrise locations worldwide.

- 1981-The company was founded by Paul and Teresa Klaassen.
- 1982-The first Sunrise training programs are established.
- 1988-The first prototype Sunrise opens in Arlington, Virginia.
- 1995-The Sunrise Reminiscence Program, a program for residents with Alzheimer's Disease, is formed.
- 1996-Sunrise becomes a publicly traded company.
- 1999-The first international Sunrise location opens just outside of London.
- 2000-Sunrise develops At Home Assisted Living, a program for senior citizens who don't want to move to a Sunrise location.
- 2000-Sunrise opens its first location in Canada.
- 2003-Sunrise acquires Marriott Senior Living Services, adding over 120 locations.
- 2005-Sunrise opens its first location in Germany.
