Sunraysia Television
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sunraysia Television is the publicly-listed parent company of Swan Television and Radio Broadcasters, owners of STW-9 (Channel 9 Perth). Sunraysia TV is majority owned by Eva Presser, who owns around 55% of the company. WIN Television owns 40% of the company. It is affiliated with the Nine Network.
Sunraysia Television started out in Sunraysia, the area around and including Mildura. It operated a single TV licence, known as STV-8. In the 1980s it was purchased by Ms Presser.
After the collapse of previous owner, Bond Media, STW-9 was sold to Sunraysia Television (then largely owned by Eva Presser). Ms Presser simultaneously sold STV-8 to Southern Cross Broadcasting. Sunraysia Television no longer had any assets in Sunraysia.
Eva's husband Dan runs the Sunraysia Natural Beverages company, which similarly has no ties to the Sunraysia region. The Pressers use the term as their personal brand name, which is somewhat ironic as the name is derived from a 1920's dried fruit advertising campaign, for the Australian Dried Fruits Association - an entity with no connections to the Pressers.
