Sungri Motor Plant was opened in November 1950 as Tokchon Motor Plant (덕천자동차공장) in the city of Tokchon (덕천), North Korea. It was renamed to Sungri Motor Plant in 1975. In 1980 the annual capacity was reported to be 20,000 units, but in 1996 it only produced 150 units. All car models are reported to be replicas of foreign cars.
