Sungai Dua is a town in Penang, Malaysia.It is located in between two rivers hence the name Sungai Dua [Two River].It grew in population as a result of the opening of USM in 1969.The major influx of student from out of state and the rising population of Pulau Pinang [Penang] contribute greatly to the expansion and growth of Sungai Dua.Currently Sungai Dua is a developed town and houses numerous modern infrastructure and facilities. 24 Hours food outlet and convenience store is abundant and multi storey apartment are on the rise in the area.Mega shopping outlet Makro opened its outlet in Sungai Dua to cater the needs of the ever-growing resident. Fast food outlets and modern culinary such as McDonald's ,KFC ,Pizza Hut and Baskin Robins has also opened their outlet in Sungai Dua.Additional development in the area would not be a possibility in the near future because of the limited space available in the vicinity.

Taman Pekaka is a residential area located within Sungai Dua and encompasses a vast array of housing area including terrace houses,apartments and flats.Taman Pekaka is well known throughout the Penang island as being on the major housing area in Sungai Dua and one of the oldest in the vicintiy.People who live in Taman Pekaka have a tedency to be from the middle upper class and consists of profesionals and USM lecturers.The housing area is a also a point of interest for student seeking to rent houses.
