Sun ONE

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sun ONE, a Sun brand superseded on September 2003 with the introduction of the Sun Java System brand, stands for Sun Open Net Environment.

The Sun ONE brand was primarily used to market server software products that resulted from Sun's alliance with Netscape. The name was also applied to other Sun software products such as Sun ONE Studio 8 and Sun ONE Active Server Pages 4.0.

Sun ONE was introduced on April 15, 2002 to supersede the iPlanet brand name following the end of Sun's alliance with Netscape. Sun ONE itself was superseded on September 16, 2003 with the introduction of the Sun Java System. The Sun Java System umbrella includes the Java Desktop System and Java Enterprise System.
