Sun Media
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sun Media Corporation is the owner of several widely read Canadian tabloid newspapers. It is a subsidiary of Quebecor Media.
At present, Sun Media is largely absent from the Vancouver, British Columbia newspaper market, aside from the minor 24 Hours paper; establishing a Sun newspaper there has proven difficult due to the existence of both the broadsheet Vancouver Sun and the tabloid Vancouver Province, both of which are owned by CanWest Global. In the mid-1990s Sun Media attempted to establish itself in Vancouver by publishing a daily sports newspaper there, but the experiment was not a success.
Many of the newspapers owned by Sun Media have a Conservative editorial bias.
Sun Media also owns a minority interest in Toronto independent TV station SUN TV, with the balance owned by sister Quebecor subsidiary TVA.
