SummerSlam 2005 was the eighteenth annual SummerSlam professional wrestling pay-per-view event from World Wrestling Entertainment. It took place on August 21, 2005 from the MCI Center in Washington, D.C..
The official theme songs used for SummerSlam 2005 were "Remedy", by Seether, and "Get it Poppin" by Fat Joe (featuring Nelly).

- Sunday Night HEAT match: Chris Masters defeated The Hurricane (w/Rosey and Super Stacy) (1:59)
- Masters forced Hurricane to submit with the Master Lock.
- Chris Benoit defeated Orlando Jordan to win the WWE United States Championship (0:25)
- Benoit forced Jordan to submit with the Crippler Crossface.
- Edge (w/Lita) defeated Matt Hardy (4:48)
- The referee stopped the match after Hardy hit the ring post and began to bleed profusely.
- Rey Mysterio defeated Eddie Guerrero in a Ladder match for the custody of Dominick (20:18)
- Mysterio won after Vickie Guerrero knocked the ladder over when Eddie tried climbing up.
- Kurt Angle defeated Eugene (w/Christy Hemme) in a No Time Limit match (4:34)
- Angle forced Eugene to submit with a Ankle Lock.
- After the match, Angle took back the gold medal that Eugene had won from him.
- Randy Orton defeated The Undertaker (17:17)
- Orton pinned Undertaker after a RKO following the distraction of a "fan" ("Cowboy" Bob Orton).
- John Cena defeated Chris Jericho to retain the WWE Championship (14:49)
- Cena pinned Jericho after a F-U.
- Batista defeated John "Bradshaw" Layfield in a No Holds Barred match to retain the World Heavyweight Championship (9:06)
