SummerSlam 1992 was the fifth annual SummerSlam professional wrestling pay-per-view event from the World Wrestling Federation. It took place on August 29, 1992 in the Wembley Stadium located in London, England, but was aired in the United States on August 31.
There is some controversy as to whether Wrestlemania 3 or Summerslam 1992 was the more largely attended event. Wrestlemania 3 is listed as having the largest attendance for a WWE event, at 93,173. However event promoter Zane Bresloff later provided wrestling journalists, such as Dave Meltzer, with documents listing the event's attendance of actually being 78,000 with 75,500 paid, [1] [2]. If this is true, then Summerslam 1992 would be considered to have had the largest crowd in WWE history.

[edit] Trivia
- This is the first WWF pay-per-view to not feature Hulk Hogan. He does however state in his book 'Hollywood Hulk Hogan' that he was there.
- SummerSlam 1992 was the only SummerSlam ever to take place in an open air venue.
- SummerSlam 1992's attendance of 80,355 is one of the largest attendance records for a WWF/WWE event.
- After the Undertaker/Kamala match, Roddy Piper played "Scotland the Brave" on his bagpipe.
- Bret Hart stated at his Hall Of Fame induction speech that his match here was his best and favorite match of his career.
- This is the only one of the "Big 4" WWE/F pay-per-views (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series) to ever take place in the UK.
- The match between Crush and Repo Man was ironic because a year earlier they were partners in the tag team, Demolition. Crush was Crush, and Repo Man was Smash. A year later, they are bitter rivals competing against each other.
- Bret Hart convinced Vince McMahon to let the Intercontinental title close out the show rather than the WWF title match. Bret Hart believed the fans wanted to see The British Bulldog win in the main event.
- This marked the pay-per-view debut of The Ultimate Warrior's ridiculous flesh-colored body suit.
