SummerSlam 1991 was the fourth annual SummerSlam professional wrestling pay-per-view event from the World Wrestling Federation. It took place on August 26, 1991 in the Madison Square Garden located in New York, New York.

SummerSlam 1991's tagline was "A Match Made In Heaven, A Match Made In Hell" for its main event and the wedding of Savage/Elizabeth.

  • The main event handicapped match was dubbed "A Match Made In Hell" by announcer Vince McMahon.
  • SummerSlam 1991 also featured the on-screen wedding of Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth, dubbed "A Match Made In Heaven" by announcer Vince McMahon.
  • Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth had been married in real life since December 1984.
  • This was the final appearance of The Ultimate Warrior during his first tenure with the company, as he held the WWF up for money prior to the main event. He was released instantaneously upon finishing the match, and would not return until WrestleMania VIII.
  • In winning the WWF Tag Team Championship, The Road Warriors became the first (and thus far the only) tag team in wrestling history to have held the WWF Tag Titles, the NWA World Tag Team Titles and the AWA World Tag Team Titles.
  • This was André the Giant's last pay-per-view appearance. He died 18 months later.
