Suffocate a single, Feeder re-recorded from their 1997 album "Polythene" and was released as an in-between single to bridge the gap between the current album, and it's follow-up.
The new version of "Suffocate" is a full-band version of the acoustic track from the "Polythene" album, with slightly amended lyrics and liked the most out of the two versions by the bands fanbase. The song began life in 1994 as part of the bands demo which got them their record contract under the name "Real". The track back then was called "Give".
The video to promote the release, featured Grant Nicholas taking a trip on the London Tube, only to discover that everybody else is walking backwards. He meets his bandmates on the way who are walking in the correct direction, before saying his goodbyes to them. Soon after Grant sees a double of himself who gives him a piece of paper with the content not revealed to the viewer before disappearing. Grant chases him through the station before walking through the doors to exit the station. It isn't known if he catches up with him or not, leaving that for the viewer to think about. This video would be eventually re-edited as the promo for Mainland Europe-only single release Piece By Piece, whose original video was dropped due to post-September 11th concerns.
Each single was backed up with videos of their Reading 1997 main-stage debut, with the songs being "High" and "Descend".
