Subjective Collective

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This Collective was started as an outlet for creative expression. For the growth of music in our city, Greensboro North Carolina. We are not a traditional independent record label, but a group of artists with a similar goal, to make beautiful noise.

It all started in January of 2005 with a string and some glue, also the release of blank_blank's find the phantom limb. This first version of blank blank consisted of Erik Chaplinsky and Michael Barrett. It was an experiment in real sound and the documentation of creation. Dana Mayorga and Sarah Love became the Wilson Street Warriors and joined blank blank for the first show. In 2002, Chuck Chambers started Kaleidoscope Death with some fellow musicians, recording tapes and eventually compiling the songs onto the CD format. These groups compose the core of the collective.

Our group assests grew with the introduction of paint. Other musical projects were released including Reasonable People by poodlestick, an experiment in science fiction sound manipulation. Mystery Pill released a group of stoner-rock and hippie jam songs titled Mr E Pill. Kaleidoscope Death's three new releases showcased Chuck's songwriting ablility with a new sound. blank blank's There Will Be Dragons shows the evolving sound of the band with five members. Kaleidoscope Death and Secret Message Machine recorded EPs, Embarrassing Fruits will put out a split EP with blank-blank in 2006. Secret Message Machine's full-length is in works also.
