Subhasini Ali is an Indian politician and a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)

Subhasini Ali is the daughter of illustrous freedom fighters, Colonel Prem Sehgal and Captain Lakshmi Sehgal who were a part of the Indian National Army. She was formerly married to filmmaker Muzaffar Ali. Her son is Shaad Ali, the upcoming film maker who has directed popular hits such as Saathiya and Bunty aur Babli.

Trade Unionist and leader of the All India Democratic Women's Association she was once very influential in the politics of Kanpur and represented the city in the 1991 Lok Sabha. The big factor leading to her win was the goodwill and recognition of her mother in the city. The funniest bit of her election campaign was when her posters in Hindu areas read "Subhashini Didi ko Vote De - Vote for (Elder) Sister Subhashini (Sehgal)" while those in Muslim areas said "Ali Aapa ko Vote De - Vote for (Elder) Sister (Mrs.) Ali"

Subhasini Ali dabbles in amateur acting. Notable roles include fellow party member Brinda Karat's college friend in Amu and Queen Dhamma in Asoka.
