The picture shows a computer tomography slice of the human brain. In the centre, one can see hyperintense areas corresponding to blood in the subarachnoid basal cisterns, thus this patient has had an subarachnoid haemorrhage. Laterally, one can see a discrete widening of the temporal horns of the lateral ventricles, indicating that the patient has hydrocephalus.
