Its name comes from the better-known Woodstock .

These actually had the reverse effect: the village stopped being a small, clean and quiet place, as the festival and concerts attracted more than 40,000 people in 2005. The Vama Veche resort itself , formally being an oasis for the free-minded , like hippies , punkers , metalheads and all-around listeners of good music , is now a place where too many people drink . In the words of a hippie : " During the 90's this was a nice place , but now , everyone's drunk . especially children . My god , what happened to this place ? "

The concert features bands from Romania and nearby countries.Bands such as Vama Veche , Zdob si Zdub , Iris , Cargo , Luna Amara , Omul cu Sobolani , E.M.I.L. , Vita de Vie , Urma .

The only good thing , as some put it , is that there are only a few manele , compared to the rest of Romania .
