[edit] Notable?
Is Stuart Diver notable other than as the last survivor to be rescued from the landslide? Should this article simply be merged to 1997 Thredbo landslide? --Scott Davis Talk 13:52, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
- I'd say merge. Enochlau 10:49, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
- Agree he's not notable enough outside Thredbo disaster. There may not be anything to merge here. Perhaps it doesn't belong in WP at all. Lisa 13:51, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Maybe, but the article doesn't mention it. --Scott Davis Talk 05:18, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
I'd prefer to keep this entry. I remembered his name and wondered about him. I didn't go to the Thredbo landslide. His bio should be expanded though.
I just cannot believe that such a question would even be asked? Considering some of the people that make it into an article of their own, this man deserves it far more than a lot of them!!! He was not simply the LAST survivor to be rescued from the Thredbo landslide - he was the ONLY survivor and was under the ground for several days before his incredible rescue. His survival was an awe-inspiring feat of human endurance - all the more so considering his wife died right beside him and he held on for several more days. Rescuers had all but given up hope of pulling anyone out alive when a voice was detected below the rubble. The nation watched the most gripping live telecast of his rescue for hours that unforgettable day. A biography has been written about his experience entitled "Survival". This person is a national living treasure for sure - one of our most inspiring modern-day heroes! Ruth Woodhouse 3 January, 2006
NO WAY!!!! Stuart is awsome for what he suvived and this story should be expanded not merged
[edit] Only survivor
If Diver was the only survivor, can someone find a reference to say so? I changed the intro to say "last survivor to be rescued". It has changed back to "only survivor". Neither 1997 Thredbo landslide nor [1] clearly state whether anybody else was rescued, merely that it was 65 hours before Diver was. Did nobody survive and escape or get rescued within the first hour after the landslide? --Scott Davis Talk 13:54, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
