Talk:Strong Island

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

no it was not deleted because of vandalism, it was deleted because no one in their right mind uses this term--152.163.100.12 03:49, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Thank you, so unless you're calling curps a vandal, stop recreating--152.163.100.12 03:51, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm not calling Curps a vandal, I'm calling the person who changed it from a redirect to saying "Nobody in their right mind calls it this" a vandal. It's a legitimate redirect, as the term is in use, even if you don't think the people who use it are in their right minds. --Rory096 03:53, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Look, if we let islanders call themselves whatever they wanted to, we'd have to redirect LI to NYC, thus we defer to reality instead--152.163.100.12 04:05, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
What are you talking about? LI is a disambig that includes Long Island. What does NYC have to do with anything? Anyway, Strong Island is a widely used term. See Strong Island Sound, various songs and movies using the term, etc. --Rory096 04:08, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Oh good, it must be notable, I mean, common, a basketball team on suffolk county uses it in their name--152.163.100.12 11:36, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Why would a professional basketball team use it as their name if nobody uses it? --Rory096 06:59, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Strong Island Boys"

Growing up on Long Island, the first I heard of it was when a group of stupid kids decided they were a "gang" called the "Strong Island Boys." I added a reference to a Newsday article on the "gang".
