Strontium sulfate (SrSO4) is a strontium - sulfuric acid salt that has the appearance of a white or grey powder. It occurs in nature as the mineral celestite.
[edit] Uses
Like many of the other strontium compounds, Strontium sulfate will produce a bright red flame when burned. This gives it use in pyrotechics. The primary difference is that because of the Sulfate ion this compound can be used as a high-tempature oxidizer. Thus the oxizizing function will not activate till certain heat levels.
