Strasbourg, Saskatchewan

Strasbourg is a small town in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, located about 75km away from the capital of Saskatchewan, Regina. There are about 800 people that live here, and it is a very tightly wound community. Accidents rarely happen and the gossip travels fast. There is a school, William Derby School, which holds kindergarten to Grade 12, and various students from this area come to this school to earn an education. Nick Schultz of the NHL hockey team the Minnesota Wild comes from Strasbourg.

The earliest settlers came to this area around 1884. The area was settled by german pioneers. The town was originally spelled Strassburg, Strass meaning road or street in german and burg meaning mountain. The name was changed to the french spelling of Strasbourg in 1919. The town was incorporated in 1907.
