Strand-on-the-Green
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Strand-on-the-Green is an area of Chiswick in west London. It is located immediately to the east of Kew Bridge, along the north bank of the River Thames. Strand-on-the-Green is the name of the first part of the road east of Kew Bridge, its continuation on the riverside path, and of the area itself.
It is renowned as a particularly picturesque part of London; a footpath runs along the bank of the river, overlooked by numerous imposing 18th century houses and three excellent local pubs, the Bell & Crown, the City Barge and the Bull's Head. One of the houses is marked with a blue plaque noting that the 18th century painter Johann Zoffany lived there at the end of his life.
