Talk:Story of Myth (computer game)

[edit] Revert Reasoning
The definite article in "The Deceiver" does not need to be capitalized in every instance. It can be argued that it does need to be capitalized, but it's pedantic. Articles and prepositions in titles need not always be capitalized; in this instance I found it intrusive in the reading. LordNaughty 22:07, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Regarding the recent additions...
I'm glad someone other than myself has taken an interest in this page. The Myth 3 section needs expanding, and there's always room for improvement in the existing text. That said, these new additions and edits need discussion. Most of it reads like material that belongs on the talk page (or in a forum), and not in an encyclopedic article. While this article is less encyclopedic than most by its very nature, I hope that others would agree that this story is worth chronicling. The original format (listing the characters and then telling the story as a narrative) is what I prefer, simply because the disputing of story elements between the games belongs on the talk page.
There's also the issue of editing in material from Myth 3. The Myth 3 source material (manual, flavor text, cutscenes, and gameplay) was omitted from the characters section and the historical context for the sake of clarity, since I (and until now, nobody else) didn't want to reconcile the story discontinuities. I'm glad someone wants to take the time and do it, but I would suggest that (for the moment) this material should be added at the end of each character entry and the historical context, and disambiguated as coming from Myth 3, leaving the original entries intact. The material can then be properly integrated in due time, after the discontinuities are discussed and consensus reached as to the best approach in each instance. GURPS Myth stuff omitted? Its Bungie lisenced, its officially part of the story. It all makes sense and fits.

Considering the conflicting information present in GURPS I find myself wary of using it as as definitive source. Perhaps it's own tiny section?Robochocobo 22:58, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Myrkridia: Werewolves?
"the world of Myth was plagued by a savage lycanthropic race, the Myrkridia"
I havn't played Myth 3, but I've been interested in Myth since it came out, and cannot recall encountering anything to indicate they are lycanthropes, that is, that they can change between humanoid and lupine forms. Just looking for an outside reference or citation, here.
Also, the use of the term race is somewhat misleading, and should probably be changed to 'species', but I recognize that this is somewhat the norm in fantasy games, notably Dungeons and Dragons, and don't really have an objection to it. It's just not the most precise diction considering that humans and myrks are generally considered distinct creatures.
On a side note, this is my first contribution to the 'pedia.
- I've chaged from lycanthropic to "wolf like". Seano1 20:59, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Why not just use "lycanthropic like." ? Robochocobo 22:58, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
