Storm (soft drink)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Storm was a lemon-lime flavored soft drink, available with or without caffeine. It was test marketed by PepsiCo in some areas of the U.S. in 1998 as Pepsi's attempt to enter the U.S. clear lemon-lime soda market. It differed from The Coca-Cola Company's Sprite in that its flavor was uniquely subtle and had a very slight bitterness to it.

Perhaps a marketing blunder, in that the contests which ran for the majority of its existence gave themselves away. The clear bottles, with clear soda, could be turned upside down and the results could be seen from the bottom. One could easily choose a bottle bearing "Free Storm" over one saying "Please try again."

Pepsi eventually reformulated Storm (probably in response to consumer comments) as a sweeter drink with no caffeine, and launched the new formula as Sierra Mist in 2000.
