Stoneridge Shopping Center
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stoneridge Shopping Center is a major regional shopping center located in Pleasanton, California, a suburb of Oakland and San Francisco, located in eastern Alameda County.
The mall opened in 1980 and is part of the larger Stoneridge master planned neighborhood originally developed by Stoneson Development Corporation, whose founders also developed Lakeside Village and Stonestown Galleria in nearby San Francisco, not long after World War II.
However, the mall itself was developed by the Taubman Company, which developed other malls in the Bay Area, such as Hilltop Mall and Sunvalley Mall. [1]
The original anchor tenants were Macys, Emporium-Capwell (now a second Macy's location on the site specializing in menswear and home furnishings), and JCPenney. A Nordstrom store opened in 1990 and a Sears store arrived in 1997. The mall is now owned by The Mills Corporation, due to the Mills' acquistion of the General Motors Pension Trust from Taubman in 2003.
