Stoke Newington School Media Arts College

Stoke Newington School Media Arts & Science College is situated in the 900 year old Norman town of Stoke Newington, Greater London. The School was formed in 1995 following the merger of Clissold School and Woodberry Down School, with Stoke Newington being situated on the site of Clissold School. Media Arts status was granted by the DfES (Department for Education and Skills) in 2002 and thus the title 'Media Arts College' was added to the school. The title 'Media Arts & Science College' was awarded by the DfES (Department for Education and Skills) in 2005 and has been in use since 2006.
The school itself is overly subscribed and is one of the most successful state schools in North London. In each year group, 240 children are admitted in accordance to how close they live within the 1Km radius catchment area. Stoke Newington has eight tutor groups: S,T,O,K,N,E,W,G although in some years there is a 'I' tutor group.
The school has now expanded, with sixth form provision now being put in place, starting from September 2006The current headteacher is Mr Mark Emmerson, who took over from Mr Steve Belk in the year 2000. Below are the main positions of the school:
