From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stjepan Kljuić (born December 19, 1939 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is a Bosnian-Croat politician and academic who has been an active participant in Bosnian politics since Bosnian independence.

Stjepan Kljuić was a member of the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a founding member of the HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union) party in 1990. However, he broke with the party over their policy of irredentist expansion and Greater Croatia politics.

Because of his opposition to the division of Bosnia, Mate Boban attempted to kill him by poisoning. Kljuić survived and continued to oppose Boban.

In 1994 he founded his own party, the Republican party of Bosnia, which is a multi-ethnic, pro-Bosnia party.
