Stjørdalen

Stjørdalen is a traditional district in the Trøndelag region of Norway, consisting of the municipalities of Stjørdal and Meråker.
It was formerly a separate municipality, created in 1837 but split to create Øvre Stjørdal and Nedre Stjørdal in 1850. At that time Stjørdalen had a population of 11,642. Currently, the combined population of the municipalities Stjørdal and Meråker is 21,738.
