Stick-frame construction
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stick-frame construction is the use of standard wood framing members (i.e., 2x4s, 2x6s, 2x12s, etc.) in standard sizes and standard lengths (see Dimensional Lumber) to construct the above ground structure of a building, which is then covered with sheathing. Services and finishes, including insulation, roofing and siding, are then applied to the frame.
Stick-frame construction is the one of the most widely-used building methods for residential, agricultural and light commercial construction.
