From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
about the Gorki picture, and its Dutch version
[1] is a picture from the Dutch article. Maybe you can use that?
However... Wikipedia seems to be a bit confusing about pictures on the Wikipedia articles in other languages. There is a commons database which allows pictures to be used on all the Wikipedias, but some pictures are still only stored in (for instance) the Dutch Wikipedia. Now uploading them to the commons database is not that hard, but which makes matters worse ... there is the license issue, and the English Wikipedia is a bit sterner when it comes to that... so a picture on the Dutch Wikipedia isn't necessarily "legal" on the English Wikipedia.
What do you think?

re WP:CLINMED userbox move
Did userbox WP:CLINMED need to move, as it is about the encylopaedic process, not personal description (eg country, race, religion, hobies). Wikipedia:Userbox migration#English implementation features states "If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Userboxes can be of a clear value to the encyclopedia-building project. Examples include those related to claiming professional or academic expertise, WikiProject affiliations, and claiming access to specialized resources and a willingness to conduct research using them upon request. Templates for these userboxes could stay in template or project space." Just as wikiprojects are valid items in teh wikipedia space, surely so is a feature to help one identify and contact its members ? So did it need to be moved ? :-) David Ruben Talk 14:39, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
No i guess it does not HAVE to move, but I feel it probably SHOULD be reverted as it is sort of "official" within the project (i.e. mentioned on the project's page and is there to help identify & contact its members). If it is not difficult to revert back, then would be nice (somewhat weak vote). I don't think it likely that others might try to create their own userspace template and then start arguing over which should be used, but probably better not to even open the door to the possibility - or for that matter some alternative practioner trying to insist on a WP:HealthCare template or the like. Has anyone else commented on this yet ? :-) David Ruben Talk 15:05, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Adoption
Thanks! I'm just interested in finding out starting points for contributing, tasks to do, general etiquette and so on. I won't be too much of a drain, don't worry. Seegoon 15:12, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- Awesome, I've joined Wikiproject albums, I'll have a search for some more in the future I should think. On a minor note - how would I get my new userbox to appear on the right of my page? Seegoon 15:27, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot. OK - whenever I run out of things to do, I'll come knocking. Or if I struggle with something, I guess. Seegoon 15:36, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

What do I do about this?
I've found a featured article (Julia Styles), which I honestly don't believe is really up to FA-status. I understand articles can be stripped of this label, and I think that a review might see peers change their minds. First off - do you agree that this article isn't quite up to scratch? And second, if you do or don't, where do I make my voice heard? Seegoon 01:21, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi! I'll give more attention to those dates. :) I like to be an admin, I block anons, protect pages, always try to remove the speedy backlog, I contact with others on IRC, so I really enjoy it. :) Good luck on Wikinews! Wikiproject Belgium / Flanders
Piet | Talk 13:44, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Topics in Gastroenterology
Hi Steven!
I might be of help in certain areas of medicine, connected to IBS and functional bowel diseases, as well as other topics in Gastroenterology.
Cheers!

Hi Steven,
Thank you for your reply. Hats off to your impressive list of achievements in wikipedia! Is there any chance we could communicate via email to examine further the ways I could be of help in the topics we have discussed.
Cheers!

I wrote this article and have a ton of figures for it, but I've been swamped with my classes and work (I'm a first year phd student). Medical pages - Aminto
Hi Stevenfruitsmaak,
Thanks for the invite to the medical pages, the comment I added was actually just because of our experience with our youngest (who's 4) having just had gasroenteritis, and we were giving him fructose in his home-made rehydration juice, which we then realised was a mistake, after a bit more internet research! I actually know virtually zip about anything medical, so will have to decline.
Best wishes,
Aminto

Health Wiki Research
A colleague and I are conducting a study on health wikis. We are looking at how wikis co-construct health information and create communities. We noticed that you are a frequent contributor to Wikipedia on health topics.
Please consider taking our survey here.
This research will help wikipedia and other wikis understand how health information is co-created and used.
We are from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The project was approved by our university research committee and members of the Wikipedia Foundation.

Wikipedia:Manual of Style (medicine-related articles)
Hi Steven,
Hope you enjoyed your break. Wrt leaving stuff out, my main reasons were:
- It is verbatim copied from elsewhere. That is what "see also" is for.
- It doesn't belong in a "Style Guide", which is largely concerned with layout, choice of English, formatting, etc. Have a look at the other style guides. I do think there are big chunks of the current guide that should go in other WP Medicine guidelines. For example "Sources for medical articles".
- The big tables for section headings. Much of the explanitory notes are really just telling us stuff we already know. It also over-emphasises the importance of the headings offered.
- The cookie-cutter text. Look at the articles created by the folk on WP Medicine. 90% of them are short, with few sections. Only those approaching good/feature quality actually merit all those headings. Also, I have a problem with "official guidelines" recommending headers that aren't actually used anywhere. Some of the drug headings only appear on Paracetamol, and not at the top-level. I think the best guidance we can give editors is just to write content. Once you've got so much content that you need to chop it into sections, then you can start to think about which to use and what order. Starting an article with all the sections in place isn't the best approach IMO.
- Strunk & White set the example for brevity and remving redundancy.
I haven't given a full rationale for my other changes since I didn't know what the response would be. The silence is disappointing. I've chosen my text with care, and I think the brevity of some parts is a plus - nobody wants to wade through lots of text. I hope you can find stuff to use. I'd be kinda discouraged if there was nothing you liked. Perhaps even take some of the alternative version and add back those things you think are essential.

Hi. I accept the adoption. I have got you a question: How can I review submissions???
--TomasBat 23:53, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Reply
What I meant meant was: Unregistered users can submit an article and, later on, a registered user will review it and either decline it or accept it, if it is accepted, the content is created on Wikipedia and if its declined the content isnt created. I am a registered, so How can I review these submissions???
If you dont understand what I mean, please see Wikipedia: Articles for Creation

WikiProject Belgium
Hoi Steven,

Wikimeet in Ghent
I could actually just make it, I suppose, if leaving Orthodox church hall in a hurry. However, there is someone who promised to come I do not particularly want to see. Sorry, but in the discussion about Siberian wiki I have seen so many swastikas and Ku Klux Klan capes, that I have had enough for a few weeks, without getting in close contact with one of these guys. I know it sounds funny, because after all I WILL be asking forgiveness for the trespasses I am willing to forgive. But there is also something there about not being led into temptation. ;>) --Pan Gerwazy 20:51, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- I regret that you should not come for this reason. I will be there and yeah, there will also be people (more than one), which I do not prefer to see. However, I allways say, take it easy and enjoy the day. You are always welcome. Annabelleke 22:04, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Admiral Freebee albums
--Stijn Vermeeren 20:29, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Belgium edit
Hi Steven. Your removing of headers caused a far to long Belgium intro putting the 'contents' box out of sight. In fact, the headers are quite informative – allowing one to skip whatever one may not be interested in ;-). The figures you reverted to were even more inaccurate than the reverted ones; I had an edit conflict when trying to save updated figures (based on current Belgian population 10,419,000 and interpolation of figures from Communities and regions of Belgium with a middle between 85-90% (thus 87.5%) of French-speaking inhabitants of the Brussels Region). I avoided rough rounding so as to allow verification and prevent subjective 'correcting'. Yours truly, — SomeHuman 23 Nov 2006 20:23 (UTC)
