Steven Solarz is a prominent figure in the Ontario Student Trustees’ Association - l’Association des Élèves conseillers et conseillères de l’Ontario (acting as the 2006-2007 OSTA-AÉCO Secretary), an active member in Trenton High School, and a well-known teenager in the Quinte West, Ontario region.

[edit] Early Life
Steven Solarz was born May 26, 1989 to parents Linda (Cole) and Fred, in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. Soon after birth, his family (consisting of his parents, as well as his brother, Michael), moved to Trenton, Ontario, Canada. Two years after moving to Trenton, his family welcomed a new addition, Angela, his younger sister.
At the age of two, Steven was already showing signs of potential in school. He was reading at a kindergarten level before starting school, and was already learning his numbers and how to add and subtract.
By the age of four, Steven was enrolled in St. Mary's Catholic School, part of the Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board (Now part of the Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board). His kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Fielding, encouraged Steven to take on his own learning capababilities. By five, Steven was reading at a grade four level, and doing grade two math.
After completing kindergarten, Steven was ready for grade one. Mrs. Webster, his grade one teacher, again nurtured his learning capability. By December, Steven was reading at a grade eight level, spelling grade eleven words, and doing grade four math. Mrs. Webster, noticing a gifted child, quickly moved to getting Steven bumped up two grade levels.
Mrs. Webster got the approval of the principal to move Steven into Grade three. Now all she needed to do was get the approval of Steven's parents. Unfortunately, Linda did not want to move Steven up to Grade three, stating "he won't have his friends and it would ruin his social life." Mrs. Websters attempt to move Steven up failed. However, she continued to nurture Steven, allowing him to do his own learning seperate from the rest of the class.

Beginning in Grade Two, Steven had one teacher for three years, Mrs. Kostya. The school year began off on a good note, with Steven completing the work the grade threes in the class were doing, instead of working out of the grade two books. Unfortunately, things would change dramatically after Mrs. Kostya's "accident".
It happened one month into the school year. Details are not availible at this time, but Mrs. Kostya broke her ankle, resulting in a supply teacher filling her position for the next six months.

[edit] The Significance of A&P
A&P has become a staple "hang-out" for Steven. He enjoys going to A&P because it is clean, friendly, smells good, and many people he knows work there. A&P has also become a breeding ground for many memories.
[edit] Blonde Girls and the Watermelons
In the summer of 2004, while visiting A&P with his mom, two blonde girls came into A&P and took a basket. Watermelons happened to be on sale that day so they looked at the watermelons ($4.99 each) and said "Hey, we should get some watermelon!" One of the girls picked out a watermelon from the bin and announced "This is really heavy!" The other girl said "Put it in the basket!" The watermelon was placed in the basket. The first girl continued to say "This is really heavy still!" The other girl replied "Then let's just drag it." So they spent the rest of their time in A&P dragging a watermelon in a basket across the floor of A&P.

In the summer of 2005, Victoria and Steven went to A&P and recreated the scene with the watermelon. Many people stared. Cassie, who happened to be at A&P, saw Victoria and Steven and laughed.
[edit] Movie Night With Jen
Jen McWhirter and Steven ventured to A&P on one of their movie nights to purchase candy and have lots of fun. Cameron Culver and Sarah Martelle joined in the fun, while they were working, and helped get candy and eat and have fun. Then Steven and Jen went to the movies. It was just a plainly fun night.
