This is a list of fictional characters appearing in the video game Metal Gear Solid (and, by extension, its remake, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes). All characters were desinged by Yoji Shinkawa;[1] who has designed the characters for all subsequent Metal Gear Solid games, with the execption of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. Most of the original American voice cast were initially credited under pseudonyms due to the fact they did not know if the project was union sponsored or not,[2] the only ones who used their real names were David Hayter (Solid Snake) and Doug Stone (Psycho Mantis).
