Talk:Steinkjer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lø is part of Steinkjer.
Vådal Farms is actually not in Steinkjer muncipiality (they are located in Inderøy Kommune) and the picture of them should therefore be removed from this article.
Instead, some of the large farms inside Steinkjer muncipiality should be included like Gjievran, Lund or By Gaard.

[edit] Steinkjer "cathedral"
Please look up the exact definition of cathedral. If I'm not mistaken, there's never been one in Steinkjer, so we need to rephrase about the church that was destroyed during WWII. I've tried to find more information about it online, but without any luck. --Leifern 15:49, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed, it was not a cathedral, but a "cross-church" (korskirke). It was still a large church though, but no cathedral (although just as beautiful). The replacement, the functionalism architecture church in today's Steinkjer is not as estethically beautiful as the previous church, but people had a hurry to rebuild Steinkjer and went for functionalism, which is also a cheap build style imho.
[edit] Thanks for the changes Orcaborealis
Orcaborealis, this article is starting to look good. I will try to extend it a little bit later, but keep fixing the language bit, much better readability now.
[edit] Added information about Wych Elm
Wych Elm (alm) is a good indicator about the good soil conditions and mild climate present in Steinkjer, despite the fact that Steinkjer is located at 64 degrees north. However, Wych Elm can be found even up to Beiarn though. The best indicator of Steinkjer being a "border-town" between north and south in Norway is the fact that is the northernmost muncipiality with large districts of agricultural growths, such as wheat.
- Not just Elm, the Byahalla forest contains more warmth-loving species and is the most northern location in the world which fullfills the botanical criteria (a certain number of nemoral species present) as temperate (hemiboral) forest. Orcaborealis 10:46, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] How do I change the license of the images
Hi, how do I change the license of the images? They should be considered as Public / GNU.
When images are uploaded, choose no rights reserved /own work etc- if indeed that is the case. Orcaborealis 11:56, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
If you have taken the image from a public website, then you will have to ask the owner (Steinkjer kommune, I guess in this case) to get permission to use it on wikipedia. Orcaborealis 18:37, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
