Stewart Levine is an American record producer. He has worked with such artists as Lionel Richie, Simply Red, Joe Cocker, Jamie Cullum, Aaron Neville and Sly Stone. He should not be confused with English record producer Steve Levine.
Stewart also produced the festival which ran alongside the “RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE” Ali-Foreman fight in Zaire, 1974.
Stewart Levine that I know was a very good friend of Hugh Masekela, whom he also produced, I used to play keyboards with Hugh and we recorded 3 albums together between 1973 - 75. We took photographs for our first album cover with Hugh at the back of Stewarts house in Pacific Coast Highway in the 70's. Stewart is a ver good man as I remember, he made me play my heart out on a solo on Colonial Man which we recorded at Wally Heider Studios in LA. Stewart also produced the Crusaders for many years, Chisa records is one of Stewarts efforts. I learnt that Quincy Jones married Stewarts daughter.
