Steven Schiff

Steven Harvey Schiff (March 18, 1947 - March 25, 1998) was an American politician. He served as a member of the United States House of Representatives representing the first district of New Mexico from 1989 until his death in 1998. He was a Republican.
Schiff was born in Chicago, Illinois. He received a B.A. at the University of Illinois and a J.D. from the University of New Mexico law school. He remained in New Mexico and was a lawyer until his election to Congress in 1989. He died of skin cancer during his fifth term in Congress in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Republican Heather Wilson won a special election to succeed him.
