Steven Naismith

Steven Naismith (born 14 September 1986, in Irvine), is a Scottish professional footballer currently playing for Scottish Premier League club Kilmarnock.A real fans favourite who has been nicknamed as " The Milkybar Kid"

He made his senior debut in the 2003-04 season. In the 2005-06 season he won the Scottish Football Writers' "Young Player Of The Year" Award, after some impressive performances and scoring 13 goals. He plays as no 7 for Kilmarnock in the Striker position, but can also play on the left of midfield.

Resident of Stewarton, Steven attended Lainshaw Primary School and Stewarton Academy, whilst his footballing education took place with local junior team Stewarton Annick. He then played several years in the Kilmarnock youth team before signing for The Kilmarnock senior team at the age of 18. The player has been dubbed Scotland's answer to Wayne Rooney and has been scouted by various English clubs.

Steven scored on his debut for Scotland U21s v Iceland in a 4-0 victory in March 2006 and in the same month scored on his debut for Scotland B team v Turkey in a 3-2 defeat. He has also played for Scotland at U18 level.

He has recently sparked some interest from English Championship Club Derby County. Manager Billy Davies sent his top scout to watch a game between Falkirk and Killie and is understood to have received a glowing report of the youngster. It is believed he will dispatch more scouts to watch the Killie starlet.

Also newspapers have claimed that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsenal's Arsène Wenger have been keeping tabs on the player, although United's interest has yet to be confirmed. On Sunday August 27th Naismith said he would join Arsenal on a 2 day trial.[1]
