Steven Kellogg

Steven Kellogg (1941-) is a beloved author and illustrator who has contributed 90 books for children and is most known for writing books about animals, which he credits his grandmother for. He was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, on October 26, 1941 to Robert E. and Hilma Marie (Johnson) Kellogg, and his love of writing and illustrating earned him a place at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Kellogg's works center around highly detailed pen and ink drawings that are colored to varying degrees. Prominent works include the "Pinkerton" the Great Dane set, the "Million..." titles, and "The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash" and sequels. His first book was published in 1967.

In 1967, Kellogg married Helen Hill. Two years later, he began illustrating books by other authors, and quite soon afterwards he began publishing books on his own. He lives in Stoney Brook, Connecticut.
