From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Steven Ferencz Udvar-Hazy (or Steve Hazy) (born 1946, Budapest, Hungary) is the Chairman and CEO of International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), which is one of the two largest aircraft lessors in the world (the other being GECAS.)[1] As of 2006 he is the 83rd richest American with a net worth of US$3.1 billion.[2] The Udvar-Hazy family came to the United States in 1958, fleeing the Soviet occupation of Hungary.
Udvar-Hazy is responsible for a US$65 million grant to the Smithsonian Institution. This allowed the U.S. National Air and Space Museum to build the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center annex at Washington Dulles International Airport.[3] The annex houses more than 120 aircraft and 140 space-exploration exhibits as of 2006, and plans call for eventually installing over 200 aircraft.[4]
