Steve "Static" Garrett

Steve "Static" Garrett is an African-American producer and singer/song-writer from Louisville, Kentucky. He has worked with artists such as the late Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Destiny's Child, Brandy and JoJo.
A number of his songs have appeared in Films as well as games. He has also worked with other producers. For example, Scott Storch, Timbaland, Dr. Dre, and Jazze Pha. More recently, he has worked with Pretty Ricky on their album as well as David Banner's single "Crank It Up" as well as with Tank.
He is signed to the Blackground record label where he found his first breakthrough working with Ginuwine. The single "Pony" became a major hit. He then worked with Aaliyah and Playa. He went on to produce a single for Aaliyah, "Are You That Somebody?" from the Dr. Dolittle soundtrack. Some see this single as the point at which Aaliyah became famous.
He is also part of the R&B trio, Playa, who are signed to Def Jam. He is also pursuing a solo career at present.
His is a very musical family, he sung in the church choir, where his sister played piano and his mother was the musical director. His father Preacher is very musically inclined.
