Steve T. Kirby

Steve T. Kirby was the thirty-fifth Lieutenant Governor of South Dakota. He is a member of local, state, and national boards of directors.

Steve Kirby graduated with a bachelor of science degree in political science from Arizona State University and a Juris Doctor degree from the South Dakota School of Law. He married Suzette Hustead and became the father of a son and two daughters.
Kirby worked for Western Surety from 1977 to 1992 as a secretary and senior claim counsel. He was a founding partner in South Dakota's largest venture capital firm, Bluestem Capital Company, which was established in 1992. After serving as Lieutenant Governor of South Dakota from 1993 to 1995, Kirby ran for the Republican nomination for Governor of South Dakota in 2002.
