Steve Sidwell (football coach)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Steve Sidwell is an American football coach at Franklin High School in Franklin, Massachusetts. He coached in the National Football League for 22 years and was a college football coach for 16 years. His son, Bradley E. Sidwell, is the head coach at Franklin High.
[edit] Career
Sidwell worked as the New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator from 1986 to 1994. In this 9 year span, the Saints led the league twice in fewest points allowed (1991, '92), in rushing defense ('89) and in passing defense ('92, '93). After he was fired in December of 1994, he signed on with the Green Bay Packers as the linebackers coach. He has also held jobs as defensive coordinator of the Oliers, Bronco, Patriots, and most recently, the Seahawks.
[edit] High School Tenure
Steve has coached the Franklin Panthers for two years as defensive coordinator. The defense is the same that lead to New Orleans Saints to great success in the early 90's, as is the main reason for the Panthers' normally stingy defense.
