Steve McCatty (born March 20, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan), is a former professional baseball player who pitched in the Major Leagues for the Oakland Athletics from 1977-1985.

- On August 10, 1980, McCatty pitches a 14 inning game against the Seattle Mariners, only to lose 2-1.
- In the 1981 strike-shortened season, McCatty led the American League with a 2.32 ERA and was tied with 14 victories and 4 shutouts. He finished second for the Cy Young Award, behind Rollie Fingers.
- On April 2, 1982 in an exhibition game against the San Diego Padres, McCatty steps to the plate wielding a toy 15-inch bat but was refused by umpire Jim Quick to hit. McCatty was instructed by A's manager Bill Martin to use the toy bat as a protest, who was furious that the DH rule was not allowed in National League ballparks.
