Steve Godsey

Steve Godsey is the member of the Tennessee House of Representatives representing the 1st District, which is a part of Sullivan County. He was first elected to the 100th General Assembly and currently serves as a member of the Republican Party. He is a member of the Education Committee, the Commerce Committee, the K-12 Subcommittee, and the Small Business Subcommittee. He has also served on the Transportation Committee.
Since being elected in 2005, he has served as chairman of the Northeast Tennessee Caucus. The Northeast Tennessee Caucus consists of all House and Senate lawmakers representing districts within the 1st Congressional district. In 2003 he became the Jobs, Economic Development, and Industrial Recruitment Task Force chairman of the Republican House Caucus. In February 2006 Godsey announced that he would run for mayor of Sullivan County.
