Steve Gleason (born March 19, 1977 in Spokane, Washington) is an American football safety who currently plays for the New Orleans Saints of the NFL. He attended Gonzaga Preparatory School, where he earned consecutive Defensive MVP awards, and also earned Pacific 10 Defensive MVP honors his junior year at Washington State University at weakside linebacker. He was acquired by the New Orleans Saints in the Fall of 2001 and participates as special teams captain and strong safety.
