[edit] History

[1]A native of California, Carlson grew up listening to blues, folk, soul, R&B, and rock. At age 10, he started playing guitar and writing songs. He performed in bands throughout high school playing guitar, singing, and occasionally picking up a bass. During his two-year residence on the island of Maui, he began playing acoustic slide guitar and mandolin, which would eventually become a major influence on his songwriting. After steadily gigging in Hawaii, he moved to Los Angeles to hone his craft.

Currently residing in Hollywood, California, Steve has spent the last few years focusing on collaborative songwriting with band mate, Christian Kane, and their band KANE. Steve first teamed up with Christian Kane in 1998. Soon thereafter, the two began showcasing their songwriting talents and unique harmonies at local clubs. Their partnership has produced a varied and abundant repertoire of original material. In only a short time together, the band KANE and their always-evolving set list have received overwhelming support from notoriously picky Los Angelinos and high praises from the critics.

Spot in the Corner, Steve's first solo album, is receiving great praise from fans and he is working with other artists on a compilation album for charity.

"Though he evokes some of the best singers/songwriters of the seventies, Carlson has a modern edge and a neo-country aroma to his work that sets it apart. 'Spot In The Corner', his full length CD, presents a thoughtful, skillful artist and hi backup players."
-Music Connection

[2]In 2004, he formed The Steve Carlson Band along with bass player Steve Dress, a graduate of the Juilliard School, drummer Tim Jimenez, a California native who was an original member of the legendary Rave-Ups, signed to Epic Records, and saxophonist David Olivas, who earned his performance degree from the Berklee College of Music. Together they have become a constant on the L.A. club scene, selling out venues and awing both fans and critics alike.
