Steve Adams (born 25 September 1980, Plymouth) is an English footballer currently playing for Sheffield Wednesday F.C.. The defensive midfielder is extremely adept at breaking up attacks thanks to his ball-winning tackles and ability to read opposition passes.
Born in Plymouth, Adams rose through the Pilgrims' ranks to make his debut in 1998. He went on to make 176 appearances, scoring 7 goals. He was a vital member of the Argyle sides that won both the Third Division Championship in 2001-2002 and the Division Two title in 2003-2004.
Paul Sturrock, who has managed Plymouth Argyle previously, captured Adams' services in March 2005 for an undisclosed fee. He signed a deal which will keep him at Hillsborough till 2007.
The 2005-2006 season was hampered by an Achilles injury problem and Adams managed to make only 8 appearances on the field.
Despite his recent injuries, manager Sturrock rates him as one of his very best players.
