Sterzing (German) or Vipiteno (Italian) is an Italian commune in the autonomous province of South Tyrol. It is the main village of the southern Wipp valley, and the Eisack flows through the medieval town.

According to the 2001 census, 75% of the population was German speaking, 24.7% Italian-speaking and 0.3% of Ladin motherlanguage.

The name Vipiteno was invented only in the 20th century, after a nearby military camp of ancient Roman times (Vipitenum).
