Sterling Vineyards

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sterling Vineyards, located in Calistoga, California, is a large winery that achieved international recognition when it won first place in the Ottawa Wine Tasting of 1981.

Thirteen wines were blind-tasted and Sterling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 1974 took first place in the wine competition. It defeated Château Lafite-Rothschild, Château Mouton-Rothschild, Château Latour, Château Margaux and Château Haut-Brion, all from the outstanding Bordeaux vintage of 1970 which is one of the top four vintages in nearly half a century. These Bordeaux wines are all First Growths (Premiers Crus) as established by the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855 and are France's finest.
