Stephen Walther

Stephen Walther is the author of the best-selling book on ASP.NET, ASP.NET Unleashed (Sams Publishing, ISBN 0-672-32823-2). He also wrote ASP.NET Kick Start (Sams Publishing, ISBN 0-672-32476-8), and contributed the database chapters to ASP.NET Tips, Tutorials, and Code (Sams Publishing, ISBN 0-672-32143-2).

He created several ASP.NET best-practice applications for Microsoft. He was the lead developer of the ASP.NET Community Starter Kit and the the Issue Tracker Starter Kit. These applications can be downloaded from the official Microsoft site at www.asp.net. He got his start building Web applications by creating two well known Web sites. He built the CityAuction Web site which was the auction Web site used by CitySearch and Snap!. He also was the lead developer of the Collegescape Web site which was used by over 200 colleges -- including MIT, Stanford, and Harvard -- for online college applications. He is a Microsoft Software Legend, a Microsoft ASP.NET MVP, and a member of the INETA Speaker's Bureau. He has spoken at a number of major conferences including Microsoft TechEd, Microsoft DevDays, and ASP.NET Connections.

Stephen received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He was a Ph.D. candidate in Linguistics and Philosophy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology when he became involved with the World Wide Web.
